Environmental Sustainability
Since wood is a finite resource, we really make sure that we are ethically sourcing and using it. Most of our timber comes from FSC certified forestry’s across the globe. This is our moral belief to help fight illegal sector logging and preserve the integrity of the timber industry.
In addition, we are also involved with planation of our own forestry’s that help us plan foR timber requirement. We believe that one should not only take but also give back to the environment. By planting trees, we can change the ecosystem to breed more life and fertility. The advantage of planting trees is:
- It maintains itself over a long period of time
- It is a good source of passive income
- It helps with reducing soil erosion
- It creates a natural habitat for animals to live and thrive in
- It helps with rain and to bring the water table higher
- Trees help act as CO2 sinks
Furthermore, we have reduced our reliance on standard power that is uneconomical and releases pollutants byproducts to create. Instead, we have opted to move to a more renewable source of energy that is solar. This helps us have a steady stream of power thought the day where Kenya in general enjoys mostly sunny weather. We later want to increase this capacity to power more of our machines and eventually also be able to supply back to the grid.
